Today, VOSH of New England (VOSH-ONE), the parent chapter of SVOSHNECO met at the college to discuss the recent activities within the regional non-profit organization. Eight doctors, one para-optometric professional, and four students participated in a lively discussion of recent trips, club activities, and future plans and goal of sustainability for the non-profit.
Each member of this organization volunteers his or her own time and resources to make a positive difference in communities where access to resources are limited due to their socio-political system. These doctors shed light on the current state of affair in various communities they've volunteered in. They know the challenges in these communities and are finding ways to create a more sustainable delivery system for the much needed eye care/healthcare services. It was an inspirational meeting in that the passions of these doctors clearly illuminated the humanitarian nature of our profession and our professionals. I am so happy to know that every member of your organization is volunteering their resources and time for such communities without any resources. Actually, we must try to change their current socio -political system too. Thanks for the post. Regards.
